Bonnie Mitten, age 86, of Sharon Springs, KS (formerly of Oakley), peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, following her fight with dementia. Bonnie Marie Davis was born on March 4, 1940, in Beeler, KS, to Ralph Edward Davis and Arlene Enid (Ward) Davis.
On October 9, 1962, Bonnie married the love of her life, Jack Donald Mitten. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and unconditional love. In 1963, they welcomed their first child, a son, they named Jack Donald Mitten Jr. “J.D.”, followed by their daughter, Debra Arlene Mitten, in 1965. Their home was always a place where family gathered, laughter was shared, and countless cherished memories were made. Bonnie and Jack were the owners and operators of Mitten Cafe in Oakley, KS, for 27 years, running their family business side by side with their children.
Bonnie had a profound love for her family and an unwavering faith in Christ that guided her every action. She cherished the moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always prioritizing faith and family above all else. Her warmth and kindness created a nurturing environment where everyone felt welcome and loved.
Bonnie embraced life with joy and gratitude, finding happiness in its simplest pleasures. Whether she was fishing by the lake or watching a round of golf with her husband, Bonnie's joyful spirit and laughter were infectious. She never turned down chocolate ice cream, and those who knew her will fondly remember the smile it brought to her face.
Bonnie was loyal and caring, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her faith in God was inspiring, serving as a beacon of hope for those around her. Bonnie’s legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Arlene Davis, and her beloved husband, Jack Mitten. She is survived by her children, J.D. Mitten and his wife, Lisa, and Debbie Summers and her husband, Darrin. Bonnie was a proud and devoted grandmother to Lacey Welsh and her husband, Brian, Jade Mitten, Shantelle Kallsen and her fiancé, Lucas, Braydon Summers and his wife, Kassandra, and Teagan Bennett and her husband, Zander, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Riley, Kaziah, Taylee, Huxon, Damian, Mylo, Tavara, Brixleigh, and Zariah, as well as seven step-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Max Davis and Ronnie Davis. Her greatest happiness came from watching her family grow and spending time with each generation.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at 10:00 MT, Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Gateway to Grace Church, Sharon Springs, KS. Memorials may be made to the Wallace County FCA and mailed in car of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
