Cheryl Kay (Grabenstein) Wederski, 78, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Atwood, passed away on May 12, 2026. Cheryl was born on October 6, 1947, in Colby, KS to Raymond Charles and Mary Belle (Brooks) Grabenstein. Cheryl attended Colby High School where she was involved in the Lion’s Club, the FHA, Pep Club, and the Kayettes.
Following high school, Cheryl attended Colby Community Junior College. During this time Cheryl would meet Carl Earnest Wederski, whom she married June 13, 1967. Together they had two children, Mike and Shayleen. They later adopted Shayleen's daughter Katelyn upon her passing.
She served as Rawlins County Treasurer and was re-elected to continue this for many years. Cheryl served as President of the Kansas Association of County Treasurer's and was active in state forward thinking policy throughout her career. She made many friends and close colleagues throughout her tenure and retired as a respected and beloved part of her community and profession. In her extra-curricular time, Cheryl enjoyed bowling at a competitive level, achieving a high score of 299 which she was proud of. She served her community and family through Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and in many other volunteer roles.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary Belle; brother George, husband Carl, and daughter Shayleen Jo Wederski.
Cheryl is survived by her son, Mike (Jessica) Wederski of Topeka, KS; daughter Katelyn Brown of Devils Lake, ND; grandchildren, Allison (Kaleb) Beals, Abilene, Michaela Wederski, Topeka, Emma Wederski, Topeka, Amber Terrell, Topeka and Dylan Terrell, Manhattan, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Darrel Grabenstein, sister Barbara (Mike) Maggers, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Baalmann Mortuary in Atwood, KS. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
