Delbert L. Wenzl

Delbert L. Wenzl, age 98, of Bloomington, MN, passed away on March 24, 2026. Born in Burchard, Nebraska, on July 26, 1927, Delbert lived a life defined by service, community, gardening and a love for Polka dancing and music.

After graduating from Burchard High School, Delbert moved to Omaha to work for the railroad before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a cartographer in Tokyo before returning to Omaha, where he started his career in lithography. While living in Omaha he met Helen (Horinek) Wenzl at a dance hall. The two were married on August 9, 1950 in Atwood, Kansas.

Delbert was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, enjoyed sailing on Lake Nokomis and liked dabbling in the stock market. He was also an avid gardener and shared his home-grown vegetables-most notably his tomatoes and cucumbers-with St. Bonaventure Church. With his wife Helen, they were both very active in the church. Delbert remained active during retirement by volunteering his time driving his friends to various appointments and providing handyman services.

Delbert was preceded in death by his wife Helen, sister Betty and brother Joe. He is survived by his children; son, Tom of Eagan; daughter, Mary (Mark) Pruhs of Maple Grove, MN and their children Jason, Brian (Analy) and Erin (Jamie Henry); son Ron (Judy) of Portland, OR; daughter Nancy (Chris) Heaser of Green Bay, WI and their children Tracy, Ryan (Nicole), Nicole (Travis) Breunig; Jim (Lauren) of Boulder CO and their children Freeman (Denisa), Coleman and MacMahon; daughter Ann (Jason) Berggren of Bennett, WI, and their son Levi, and 10 great grandchildren, sister Leona Doidge, brother Leroy Wenzl.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atwood, KS. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
