Eda Mae Allen

Eda Mae Allen, 96, of Miami, FL, formerly of Atwood, died March 9, 2026, in Miami, FL. She was born March 15, 1929, in Atwood, to Coleman and Hattie (Bliss) Toth. Eda graduated from Rawlins County High School in May 1947. She attended Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, KS where she earned her teaching degree and then began teaching at Blakeman in a little red brick schoolhouse.

Eda married Wendell Allen and to this union three children were born. Eda enjoyed gardening, raising orchids, reading books and taking care of her cats. She also was a caregiver for her son James and her daughter Eloise. Throughout the years she worked with her church special ministries and was the librarian at her church in Florida. Eda also worked as an office manager in her husband’s business for many years.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wendell in 1977; daughter Eloise Allen and siblings, James “J.C.” Toth and Shirley Williams.

Eda is survived by her sons, Mark Allen and James Allen; brother John “J.B.” Toth; nieces and nephews, Karen Sue Focke, Rodney Williams, J.C. Williams and Sherry Williams.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2026, at the First Christian Church, Atwood. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2026, at the Oberlin Cemetery, Oberlin, KS.
