James W. Kleinsorge

James W. “Jim” Kleinsorge, 70, of Parsons, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neodesha.

Jim was born on August 8, 1955, in Colby, Kansas, to Bill and Joyce (Keck) Kleinsorge. He grew up in Colby and graduated from Colby High School in 1975. He continued his education at Colby Community College before earning a bachelor's degree from Emporia State University in 1980.

After college, Jim moved to Wichita, where he worked for Continuing Care, a social services provider. He later lived in Hays and Hill City before settling in Parsons in 1996, where he joined Southeast Kansas Independent Living. He was an active member of the Lions Club in Hays and Hill City and attended the Methodist Church.

Born with cerebral palsy, Jim faced significant physical challenges throughout his life but never allowed them to define him. Instead, he dedicated his career to helping people with disabilities gain the tools and support they needed to live independently.

A respected leader and advocate, Jim helped advance accessibility for people with disabilities by contributing to efforts that shaped national legislation. He quietly answered every call to serve, always putting others before himself.

Jim's life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and service. He inspired those who knew him to live fully, love deeply, and appreciate each moment.

He is survived by his sister, Pam Hamill and her husband, Greg, of Lawrence; his nephew, Matt Hamill of Omaha, Nebraska; and his niece, Mollie (Hamill) Qualseth of Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life will be held at The Gathering Place, 745 S. Country Club Drive, Colby, Kansas on August 29, 2026, with a visitation from 9:30-11:00 and ceremony at 11:00.

Memorials are suggested to Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation Center and may be left or mailed to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357. Online condolences may be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com.
