Maxine Marie Wright, age 83, of Atwood, KS, passed away on October 13, 2025, in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born on June 14, 1942, in Atwood, KS, to Glenn and Avilda (Reeves) Frick.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey Wright, sons, Kevin Most and Kenny Most Jr., brother Richard Frick, grandson Tate and his parents (daughter-in-law Kathy & husband Mike Schneider), and great-granddaughter Justice Lind.
Maxine was a devoted farm wife, a wonderful mother, a cancer survivor, a valued seamstress, and much more. She was also known to many in her local community as a club member, a pillar of strength, and a friend. She never knew a stranger and would help anyone she could within her means, even at a moment’s notice.
Maxine was involved with many organizations: Hello There Hobby Club (as current Treasurer), The Red Hat Society, the Rawlins County Crafters of the Ol’ Depot/Rawlins County Crafters (as current Vice-President), Mini Sappa Antique Tractor & Thresher Association, the Scrappy Gals in Atwood, Eastern Star (50 year member), the Rebeccas, United Women of Faith, and many more. Maxine managed the Atwood Country Club, and later owned the liquor store, “The Wright Place”.
Maxine was so dedicated to her work that she started her own business, Max Sax. She participated in and organized countless craft shows locally as well as in other states. She spread her love and joy through crafts that have been enjoyed nationwide and perhaps even further.
Maxine’s family has always been her pride and joy, and she regularly hosted a family wide “Christmas in July” event. She is survived by her son, Kermit Most of Atwood, step-daughter Debby (Mike) Fanders of Atwood, step-son Lynn (RayeAnn) Wright of Achilles; nephew Greg (Irena) Frick of Colorado and their children Carly and Corbin; grandchildren, Ian (Daycie) Most, Casey (Jeremy) Keathley, Alix (Yao) Saechao, Misty Lind, Cayla (Kyle) Youngblood, Adam (Jannelle) Schneider, Kahl (Heather) Schneider, Chauncey (Tracey Moorhouse) Schneider, Becky (Aaron) Hammeke, Mary Schneider, Cassidy (Marc Finley) Fanders, Tegan (Sam Black) Fanders, Dayne (Tori Dinkle) Fanders, Nathan (Renee) Wright, Shelby (Jordan) Wright, Cody (Katie) Wright, Joe Herskowitz, Chanda Killion, Alyssa Roberts, as well as 49 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Methodist Church in Atwood, KS. The United Women of Faith will be preparing dinner following the service at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ol’ Depot in Atwood, KS and may be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, P.O.
