Robert Lee Weber

Robert Lee Weber, AKA Bob or “1B” as many of his lifelong friends called him, 84, of Colby, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby. He was born on June 28, 1941, in Ellis, Kansas, to Joseph Lee Weber and Evelyn Whittman.

Bob grew up in Ellis. He graduated from Ellis High School and proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed at Forbes Field in Topeka, Kansas.

He met and married Judy Marie Helget, and together they had four children: Lori Lee Hatch, Debbie Kersenbrock (KG), Douglas Weber, and Michael Weber (Kelly).

Bob later worked at Theis Packing Company, then for V & M Coors Distributing in Colby, Kansas. He also proudly drove the school bus for USD 315 for more than 20 years, touching the lives of many children in the community.

In 1984, Bob married Shirley Gaede, gaining two more children, Darren Gaede (Jen) and Dawn Kriss (Joel). He was a faithful and devoted Catholic and a supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, donating for over 40 years and dedicating his life to helping countless children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee and Evelyn Weber, and three siblings: Norma Jean, Jerry, and Janet, and his wife, Shirley Weber

Bob is survived by; his children, Lori, Debbie, Doug, Mike, Darren and Dawn; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and his brother Harry and sister-in-law Rita Weber.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, from 3:00–5:00 p.m., with a Vigil following at 5:00 p.m., at Baalmann Mortuary in Colby. Services will be Monday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Colby, followed by graveside services at Beulah Cemetery in Colby. Lunch will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
