Ronda Sue (Biggs) Reade passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 16, 2026, in Texas. Born on September 21, 1955, in Colby, Kansas, Ronda was the “surprise” baby and youngest child of Howard and Leah Biggs and the younger sister of Maralee (Biggs) Bray. She grew up on a farm in Kansas, surrounded by extended family and many warm memories.
After high school, Ronda earned her associate’s degree from Colby Community College and a certification in respiratory therapy at Wichita State University, before moving to Houston, Texas, where she lived for 39 years and married Michael Reade. Though their marriage ended, their daughter, Ashleigh, remained one of Ronda’s greatest joys.
Ronda was a “helper” at heart and built a meaningful career in the medical field, where she was able to pursue her passion with helping people, through compassion and dedication. Early on, she worked as an attendant on Life Flight and then later as a respiratory therapist, before transitioning into a role as a clinical liaison for a brain injury hospital and finally for a home health company.
Ronda put her faith in Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to Christ in 2005. She trusted in the grace of Christ for her salvation, knowing this world was not her home.
For the last eight years of her life, Ronda lived North of Dallas, cared for and surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law and their family, as she battled early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
She will be remembered for her deep care and concern for others. Even throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s, she was marked by her kindness and gratitude. Ashleigh says that she did not ever meet a caregiver who did not adore her mom. Ronda constantly expressed her love and thanked anyone and everyone caring for her, up until she could no longer speak.
Ronda was a loving and proud mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind her daughter, Ashleigh Lankford; son-in-law, Brendon Lankford, and grandchildren, Lilleigh, Adeline, and James Lankford, as well as her sister Maralee Bray (Harold) and nephews, Steve Finch (Brenda), Darrel Finch (Cindy), and Jason Bray (Cindy), and great (and great-great!) nephews and nieces.
A service will be held in Ronda’s memory at 1:30 PM on July 24th, 2026, at First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas. The day following the service, a private burial will be held for family in her hometown, Colby, Kansas.
The family has been so grateful for the care she received at Nedges Nest, where Ronda lived the last four years of her life. Their compassion and care provided comfort, peace, and dignity in the last years of her life. For the caregivers at Nedges Nest, caring is more than a job; it’s a mission and a calling from the Lord. If you would like to donate in her memory, donations may be made to Nedges Nest. Checks can be made to Nedges Nest and mailed to 1608 Warm Springs Drive, Allen, Texas 75002, or contact Ashleigh for Zelle information.
