Tommy S. Hurtt, 74 of Trenton NE, died Friday January 5, 2024, in Colby, KS. He was born July 19, 1949, in Salina, KS to Thomas E Hurtt and Violet (Rice) Hurtt. Tommy was married to Marlene Trail in 1968, and to this union two daughters were born, Gwen and Mandy after their divorce, Tommy Married Sandra Call Sargent in 1985 and to this union, Douglas Hurtt was born.
In 1977 Tommy accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized by Ken Chumbley on Dec. 13th. It was Tommy's faith that got him through many challenging times during his lifetime up until his last breath.
Tommy worked many jobs including grain operator, auto body and mechanic. His longest career was as owner and operator of a trucking company, hauling mail for the United Postal Service.
Family and friends of Tommy would describe him as one of the nicest guys they had ever met, who lived life to the fullest and always offered a helping hand to a friend in need. He didn't know a stranger and befriended many people through all walks of life. Early in life Tommy said he "just wanted to be happy and have fun" and he did just that. As a member of one of the finest clubs, Man-O-Pause you would see Tommy and the other club members coming up with the best of shenanigans, laughing and having fun. Tommy loved cars and attended car shows in the area. He was a snowbird and spent several winters in Tucson, AZ and was a member of the Cruisers Car Club. He and his son Doug were proud of the classic cars they worked on together. Summer was Tommy's Favorite season, and he could be found boating and skiing at Swanson Lake in Nebraska.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and dog companions, Priss and Chase.
Tommy is survived by his children, Gwen Hurtt (Donna) of Goodland, KS, Mandy (Oura) Garrett, of Goodland, KS and Douglas (Jenny) Hurtt of Colby, KS; siblings, Marsha Eichenaur of Lakewood, CO and Ronnie (Ronda) Hurtt of Colby, KS; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four nieces, one nephew, two grand-dogs and three grand-cats.
