Vertis Alexander Jones

Vertis Alexander Jones, 26, of Wichita, KS, formerly of Rexford, died Sunday, April 6, 2025. He was born in Wurzburg, Germany on July 26, 1998, to Vertis and Rebecca (Smith) Jones. Growing up Vertis was a Boy Scout and enjoyed doing track and playing basketball, football and baseball. In his mid-teens he moved from Colorado to Rexford, KS to live with his grandparents, James and Lois Jones, and was a 2016 graduate of Golden Plains High School. Vertis started working for Kroger in 2016 and remained with the company until his death.

Vertis loved his cars, driving around and listening to music. He and his brother Gabe enjoyed watching action tv shows and movies together. He loved food, especially Asian cuisine and seafood and enjoyed cooking for his family. He was a very empathetic person who was driven by success.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Vertis Lee Cornelius and great uncle Warren Powell.

Vertis is survived by his mother, Rebecca (Robert) Wedgeworth; father Vertis Lee Jones; brothers, Gabriel Johnathan Jones and David (Kerri) Jones; grandparents, James and Lois Jones, Ron and Janette Smith and Valerie Ann Jones; aunt Audra (Alfred) Rael and great aunt Kathi Powell, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

Visitation is from noon until the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. (CST) Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Rexford Community Church, Rexford, KS, with burial in the Rexford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to High Plains Mental Health Center, Colby Kansas, and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
