Vincent Zerr

Vincent Zerr, 94, of Grinnell, died surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was born June 29, 1932, in rural Park, KS to Christopher and Barbara Zerr. Vince attended country school and graduated from Park High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Vince was united in marriage to Kathleen Baalman on October 4, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Church in Grinnell, KS.

Vince was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the American Legion, Grainfield, KS, the Knights of Columbus, Angelus, KS and was actively involved in the Grinnell VFW and was currently serving as the Post Commander. Vince enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, sharing the produce of his garden and loved telling stories.

He is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen; his parents; his in-laws, Ben and Frances E. Baalman; brothers, Peter, Augustine, William; son Leon; infant son John; brothers-in-law, Paul Dreiling, Mel Albers, Don Mense, Rodney Mense, Terry Baalman; sister-in-law Blanche Zerr and daughter-in-law Loyce.

Vince is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Bob) Kuhlman of Oakley; his five sons, Rocky of Oakley, Darrell (Diane) of Centennial, CO, Tom (Donna) Zerr of Kansas City, MO, Don (Anne) of Aurora, CO, and Curtis of Park City, KS; his brother Alex (Norma) Zerr; his sisters, Betty Dreiling, Emma Albers, Frances Mense, Florence Mense; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Zerr, Louella Zerr, and Angie Baalman. Vince was proud of his 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation is 5-7 PM, with a Vigil at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Angelus. Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 10, 2026,at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Angelus with a military burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Grinnell.
